Today's survey at Wilts Wildlife Trust Blakehill produced encouraging results. Lots of slow worms, many in their 1st year, the biggest grass snake I have ever seen and adders ranging from 1st year to well grown adults!

The May reptile survey at the Wilts Wildlife Trust Sandpool reserve was completed Tuesday. The place was alive with dragonflies and birdsong - even heard a cuckoo! Common lizards were out in force, and interestingly, the mats revealed lots of juvenile Slow worms!

Only 56% of young people surveyed in #Wiltshire have ideas for things they can do to help nature. Our fourth manifesto priority is to enable healthy, thriving communities by improving access to nature. wiltshirewildlife.org/manifesto #GreatBigGreenWeek #30DaysWild #TeamWilder

Lots of these little ones crossing the path at Stanton Park yesterday. Luckily not very busy but we hung around for a bit, warning people to be careful.

Weekend survey at Wilts Wildlife Trust Blakehill turned up some stunners. All 4 regular reptiles showed, although the grass snakes were too lively to photo well! Also spotted a Marsh Harrier at distance quartering the Plain!!

Completed the July survey today at Wilts Wildlife Trust Blakehill Farm reserve. Great to see lots of gravid slow worms. But also found this freshly dead Adder, under a tin, with it's head missing!! Not seen this before, wondering if anybody else has or can offer a explanation?

Good evidence that rats predate reptiles and maybe more common than we realise!? Fairly certain that this was the case in our headless adder post earlier. @ARGroupsUK

Can you help the students at Newquay College raise money to help save the Sand Lizards? They aim to bring awareness and protect the vulnerable Sand Lizards at home along our Cornish coast. They need to raise £2000 by 20th February or they will lose out! crowdfunder.co.uk/p/save-our-san…

We’ve been wrongly named as a stakeholder in the 8,400-home Highsted Park development—one we strongly oppose. The developer falsely claimed we’re “working with them.” This is completely untrue. 📢 More here 👇kentwildlifetrust.org.uk/news/highstead…
