Stunning Pacific Golden Plovers are literally everywhere in Micronesia! On roads, roadsides, gardens, parks, playingfields, mudflats... everywhere. So special to see them and think of the amazing migration they are about to undertake! Birdquest Wader Quest

Most intense lekking of Ruff I've seen at the Blaugerzen so far this year. Their impressive display always makes for great viewing. Sadly the Netherlands has lost almost all it's breeding Ruff, and it won't be long before these birds move on, leaving us with a deep sense of loss.

Yesterday's Black-winged Stilt is still here today. Looking at the photos we can see contrast on the mantle (yellow arrow) which points to it being a female (males have glossy backs) and a white trailing edge to the wing makes this a 2023 bird. Could this be last years fledgling?

Common sandpiper, Nosterfield LNR
Noisy pair at the shoreline this evening, amongst the lake foam in cold, gusty, downpour conditions. One aggressively establishing its territory. Good to have them back. Nosterfield Nature Reserve NorthYorksBirdNews Wader Quest RSPB

Dotterel, Malta 🇲🇹
Such a beautiful plover, starting to show its chest band and early chestnut colours. Hopefully safely on its migration journey north 🤞. 🌎 Life ✅ #517. One day I’ll spot one in April or October on the @northyorkmoors Wader Quest Yorkshire Wildlife Trust RSPB

1st real attempt at finding & confirming Moorland breeding Woodcock
The Team found x4 nests in Bracken
(generally moorland nests are happened upon by chance)

NB This is an important part of Woodcock ecology that is little studied
