HitchinNubNews 1/4 Oh dear Layth - whynout a downer on what is a good news story as I told you the other day. North Herts Council Labour and Liberal Democrat joint administration listened carefully to the petition and responded positively. As acknowledged by Sue Foster in your report.

HitchinNubNews North Herts Council 2/4 For the record, we are looking at how we can create a facility for serious open air swimmers who are perhaps less concerned about pool temperature & other facilities than general pool users. We can really easily only do that at one location in the district.

HitchinNubNews North Herts Council 3/4 Given the numbers we expect initially to be interested, it is simpler to do at Letchworth since it is a dedicated open air facility, rather than one that shares facilities with an indoor pool fitness centre at Hitchin. We can monitor success. We want it to grow.

HitchinNubNews North Herts Council 4/4 We know also that people are currently travelling to London or Cambridge to swim in open air so Letchworth may be more convenient for everyone in North Herts. But as Sue Foster said, we hope this is just the start for both pools. So let's get behind it and make it work.
