The polls are closed. Whatever the result tonight, I want to thank everyone, from the bottom of my heart, for your incredible support.

On #VEDay80 I pay tribute to those who fought for our freedom in WWII. From Letchworth, where Harold Keen built the 'Bombe' enigma machine, to RAF Nuthampstead, whose airfield hosted the 55th Fighter & 398th Bombardment Groups, #NEHerts played a vital part in securing victory.

We get it right when we stick to Labour values. Expanding free school meals, breakfast clubs, now a library for every primary school - these policies show who we are. Those same values should underpin the Budget: lift the two-child benefit cap and invest in our nation’s future.
