The STEER Act was unanimously passed by the Council of DC but left unfunded in Mayor Muriel Bowser's budget. We testified today to support this life-saving legislation by asking the Council to prioritize funding the intelligent speed assistance program for the most reckless drivers.

Myopic focus on the emissions of transit vehicles is a contributing factor to DC eliminating it's Circulator bus system

Any transit strategy that isn't 'focus on growing ridership and shifting mode-share from cars' is going to be counter-productive, including for the environment

I’m pissed. We bid on this (rush) project only to be ghosted after putting in a bid which was much lower — almost 1/2 the award. Brooke Pinto

It's important for aspiring and/or self-proclaimed community leaders to avoid spreading false information or speculation.

It's also important not to mix in information you believe to be factual with snark.

Grateful to my fellow commissioners who voted against a proposal to reject DDOT’s proposed safety improvements on NJ Avenue NW. Nothing will bring back Peter Black, or ease the pain of his loved ones, but I hope we can prevent something like this from ever happening again.

This was going to continue to be two car lanes but then people who care spoke up and asked for better and got it. It's a small thing, but it's a nice reminder of why it's important to get involved even when it's frustrating.

I'm surprised to see that two of the top ten Metro stations in DC, by parking lot surface area share, are in and adjacent to ANC 1B.

The Strengthening Traffic Enforcement, Education, and Responsibility (“STEER”) Amendment Act of 2024 officially become law on April 20, following the 30-day congressional review period! Now, we need the DC Council to actually provide funding for it in FY 2025!

Opponents of safe bike lanes on Connecticut Avenue claim they have 5000 signatures on a petition. They've been trying for more than a year. Supporters of safe bike lanes have gathered 4200 in about a week. Make sure you're signed on: p2a.co/mduboa7?org=18…

I’m proud to announce my campaign's latest round of endorsements from leaders across our city. These endorsers recognize that I will be the collaborative, effective, and independent Shadow Senator D.C. needs to achieve statehood. Stay tuned for more endorsements coming soon!

Last night Mayor Muriel Bowser, in response to a question I asked her at ANC4C’s meeting, stated that she and DC Public Library don’t support a new public library on Kennedy Street NW, even though *DCPL itself identified Brightwood Park as needing a new library*. Just shameful.

New: Bowser handed a $500k contract to a friend's firm for an anti-opioid media campaign, bypassing a commission convened to guide such spending.

This seriously pissed off members, who note that the company was forced to return other opioid $ in 2019...

cafes are examples of third spaces, but i mostly disagree that this starts with culture. culture can be hard to change, but we can change policies. we should enact policies that will encourage the growth of third spaces (e.g., zoning reform, mixed-use neighborhoods, etc)

Last year, I warned about DDOT DC and Mayor Muriel Bowser's severely misguided approach to funding the DC Circulator. Now the problem is so bad that they'd rather permanently end Circulator service than fix it.

It doesn't need to be this way🧵

When I visited Seoul, it amazed me that nearly everything there would be illegal to build in most of the US. Businesses w/o parking. Access only via alleyways. Skyscrapers next to 1-story buildings.

We could have nice things - but we chose to outlaw them.
