I feel a blog coming on, on the teaching of writing. I can't quite believe how the chunking up of writing into separate components has been taking hold, as if writing is something entirely different from & disconnected from thoughts. So 'the sentence' is taught as a thing 1/

Doctor Who is just so good again. First time in years I’ve not been able to wait for the next ep. The newspaper “woke” commentary is pathetic.

The Fast Show has aged incredibly well, even though social and cultural changes have rendered certain specific jokes - like "does my bum look big in this?" - obsolete. Little Britain, on the other hand, now looks *terrible*, and not just because of the #problematic content.

Reform moving left on economics a further Europeanisation of British politics to match our fragmented electorate with multiple axes of electoral competition Tories v Reform - Social Conservatism Reform v Labour - redistribution/interventionism Labour v Greens - progressivism

Worth noting that literally every other leader is preferred to Nigel Farage as PM. This could become quite important if/when a general election approaches with polling suggesting Farage has a real shot at being PM

Luke Tryl would add: Reform v Labour - 70s welfare state v 21st century welfare state Labour/Greens/Lib Dem/Nationalists v Tories/Reform - open v closed

Jenrick may not be the best messenger, but the left would be foolish to act as though stuff like routine fare-dodging is a total non-issue. Rightly or wrongly, the more universal that sort of behaviour is, the more rule- and law-abiding people feel as though society is broken.

If Reform win power and implement a British version of "DOGE", it'll be just as much a corrupt, chaotic techbro shitshow as the original. But the underlying fallacy is a lot older than Muskism: the very idea that a large proportion of government spending is "waste" or "fraud".
