This analysis is a fiction from the Times. We looked at analysis by political party recently and decided the variables were to great to make a meaningful comparison. This doesn't take into account deprivation, urban-rural, age, funding reductions and so on.

Really thrilled to be hosting an event in celebration of the first group I fell in love with, the amazing Buzzcocks. I will be joined by two total legends, Paul Hanley and John Maher, to discuss Paul's 16 Again book and John's epic stint with the group. monorailmusic.com/product/a-celeā€¦

The question is, if the French are acting now, why has it taken the British Govt so long to merely promise action in the future??? Action not words. Thatā€™s what we need

Never has Salman Rushdie used so few words so effectively. Knife is a rich, immersive, feisty account of his journey from darkness back to the light. Part thriller, part love story, part celebration of literature, itā€™s an incandescent book.

Me on Knife.

Cracker of a Tory election leaflet from Dorset:

ā€œSwanage Conservatives have become just as angry and frustrated as so many members of the public at aspects of government conductā€¦ naturally we donā€™t feel we should be held responsible for what goes on at and around Westminsterā€

An absolute honour to have Keir Starmer at today.

Keirā€™s excellent speech re-affirmed his and The Labour Party's commitment to delivering a New Deal for Working People and tough new laws to deter those who would threaten, abuse and assault our members.

Anointing Swinney is equivalent of the Tories turning to William Hague after the GE. A big hitter, sure, but a damning insight into lack of faith in current ministers & talent in SNP more generally. FM Anas Sarwar becomes more plausible - if not likely - with each passing day.

Strong contrast to the 2021 contest when the last YouGov poll before polling day saw Khan's lead fall from 21 to 12, and it was only 5 in the end.

Here, Khan leads by 22.

If the polls are as wrong as last time, Khan still wins by 15.

Hall is toast.

10 years ago today we packed all the light sabres and robes and went to Florida to fight in the Jedi Training Academy. Elder boy had just seen Star Wars when cancer first hit him. Those stories served us all well through 4 years of treatment. Funny what a good story can do.

Another problem with this question is that it treats political devolution as a discreet period beginning in 1999. That ignores legal, education and religious 'devolution' from 1707 but also substantial administrative devolution through the Scottish Office in the 20th century.

One of the great joys of This Is Memorial Device is watching Paul Higgins take control of Ross Raymond, our hero archivist and true believer. Every action, every word is electric. This show is so good, proud to be part of it... riversidestudios.co.uk/see-and-do/thiā€¦ youtube.com/watch?v=ON1FYQā€¦

The overlooked part of devolution is that it is a massssive gamble. Might work, might not. Wrote about it here: Local British politics is a mix of the good, the bad and the mad

Marvellous the way that the @SNP leadership class have decided that what is in the nation's interest is ...

... defeating a factional opponent.
