We believe Houchen is ahead here, by a few points.

It *must* be said that these races are hugely difficult to call. The typical ‘margin of error’ on these may as well be doubled.

Which means 2 Lab victories are inside credible intervals…

Agree with Damian, not least given GE VI polling in WM/TV has the Tories way behind the mayoral candidates - the races doesn't read across. But is interesting Labour could lose the narrative battle because focus is on these mayoral races, even if they have a good night elsewhere.

Remains pretty extraordinary given national polling Houchen & Street are even competitive. Really does suggest, if Conservatives do lose the general election that they should look beyond SW1 to the metro mayors for lessons on how to rebuild a big coalition.
