Our response to today's publication of the Grenfell Inquiry Phase 2 Report

🚨 Grenfell Inquiry report 🚨 - "Complacent" govt "well aware" of risk of cladding disaster but failed to act - "Systematic dishonesty" by product manufacturers "very significant reason" for fire - "Chronic and systemic" fire safety failures by tower's social landlords

And KCTMO - the public body which managed the tower for the council - is slammed for major failures and presiding over a culture in which tenants viewed it as an “uncaring and bullying overlord that belittled and marginalised them” insidehousing.co.uk/news/kctmo-res…

But in a decision likely to disappoint some bereaved, survivors and campaigners it has NOT made direct recommendations covering social housing providers - saying the recent changes to consumer regulation are sufficient to deliver change insidehousing.co.uk/news/grenfell-…

And while there is some good in the recommendations, they also feel a little short of the transformative force the evidence seemed to demand. This was such a root and branch failure, it feels like it merits much more. But perhaps that was always beyond the scope of an inquiry
