NEW: I understand Dame Diana Johnson has appointed David Neal as an adviser to the Home Affairs Select Committee she chairs.

Neal was sacked as chief borders inspector by James Cleverly for leaking his unpublished reports to the media.

This will go down very badly in govt…

This has become all too normalised. Govt will say proves necessity of Rwanda scheme. It proves action has to be taken. But will Rwanda work? There's never been any evidence that it will. And always seemed to me to have been devised by people who had never talked to those crossing

He insists there are functioning safe passages for Afghans to the UK through ARAP. Wrong. In reality, countless thousands of Afghans have been let down and betrayed by Britain. But even if it was true, you could then easily accept the amendment.

It beggars belief that the Prime Minister could send Afghans who served alongside British troops to Rwanda.

Today the Lords have voted yet again to try to stop this from happening.

Tonight Luke Pollard MP and I have written to Ministers urging them to do the right thing.

This week, the UK will likely pass a law saying Rwanda is 'safe' to deport asylum seekers to. Meanwhile, I was recently denied boarding on a flight to Rwanda, presumably because of my journalism on the treatment of refugees there. (THREAD) 1/

Another betrayal, which will weigh heavily on those in and from Sudan: the Foreign Office has been negotiating with the RSF, the paramilitary group accused of war crimes and ethnic cleansing.
