The long-awaited government ‘Action Plan’ for the River Wye looks more like a plan to save the intensive poultry industry than one to save the river.

Over £40 million for incinerators and AD plants to process poultry muck. No system change, just a bung to business-as-usual.

The plan in brief:

✅ River Buffers
❌ Only covers England, not Wales
❌ No mention of enforcement action against polluters
❌ No plan to reduce livestock numbers
❌ Promotes more AD plants, which could lead to more maize & soil damage
