I spoke to The Guardian about the challenges many are experiencing in UK farming due to heavy rainfall. It's becoming difficult to plant crops such as potatoes & salads on time. We need to consider new strategies to cope with the changing climate. šŸ‘‡ theguardian.com/environment/20ā€¦

David Frost Ross Clark Iā€™m sorry David Frost but youā€™re wrong on this. We spent over Ā£50 billion last winter subsidising energy bills because of the cost of imported gas, following Russian invasion. Encouraging home heating using UK produced electricity is a question of national energy security.

šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§ Net zero homes most ā€˜energy patrioticā€™

What difference does make to dependence on imports for typical household?

šŸ“Gas boiler + petrol car= almost 7ļøāƒ£0ļøāƒ£% of energy from imports

šŸ“Heat pump + electric car + insulation (to EPC C)= 4ļøāƒ£5ļøāƒ£%

My letter in todayā€™s Times: last weekā€™s ECHR climate ruling isnā€™t ā€œimposing solutionsā€ on people, itā€™s imposing action. When UK Govt fails to act sufficiently - delaying heat pump & EV rollout, opening new oil fields - its feet should be held to the fire.

Poor Wonky

Here she is in better times, entertaining my toddler

She was very friendly for a sheep thatā€™d been attacked twice already. The number of loose dogs in the countryside around here is grim

Another day, another comment piece in the Telegraph that:

a) has a pop at EVs

b) says stuff about EVs that is pretty misleading

This one, by Ross Clark, also says some fairly misleading things about road pricing

So here's a thread to correct the narrative - buckle up!

The EU's plan for a 'brown' European Commission until 2029 apparently. Sell out the environment. Give big what it wants andšŸ¤ž it keeps the far right at bay... but what if it does exactly the opposite?

On my farm weā€™ve received our entire annual rainfall since mid-October. Climate change posing a fundamental challenge to food production.

Maybe forcing an entire landscape into maximum productivity is a greater threat to food security than allowing some parts of that landscape to maximize provision of the ecosystem services (pollinating insects, pest eating birds, flood abatement) that underpin food production.
