@McrSALT Susan Not to mention considerable ethical ramifications! I have lost count of adolescents I’ve met who I’ve diagnosed with #DevLangDis who had a previous self-concept of being ā€œstupidā€ or ā€œdelinquentā€. Not diagnosing leads down a destructive pathway which could be treated.

While I understand the wish to be consistent internationally, why is language is elevated above swallowing, voice, fluency...? I agree with the marketing research - the title is not really the point.

I’m officially sick of snake oil merchants šŸ and neuroflapdoodle 🧠 taking advantage of families. I’m also sad that families are driven to desperation. #ShitSLPDay

More strong support for the Simple View of Reading. "Strikingly, language comprehension and decoding, together with their interaction and curvilinear effects, explain almost all (99.7%) of the variance in reading comprehension skills at 7 years of age." psycnet.apa.org/record/2018-62…

My study is looking at the relationship between parental involvement and NDIS-funded speech and language intervention. Are you an Australian SLP who works with children funded by the NDIS? This survey may be relevant to you: canterbury.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bk…

Happy to say that my first paper has finally been published in IJSLP. This research explored how Australian SLPs aimed to involve parents in NDIS-funded intervention. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
