Excellent piece by ThirdSectorSEEN 👇 How can a charity for disabled children, Over The Wall Camp, justify punishing a child for his mother's entirely legitimate and lawful beliefs? And how can the Charity Commission fail for so long to do their job and hold charities to account?
I've just listened to Helen Joyce on the brilliant SEEN in Journalism podcast - do have a listen if you haven't yet. Whilst listening it occurred to me that as a volunteer breastfeeding counsellor, I have an enhanced DBS certificate, because we have contact with vulnerable people.
Are the aims of the Women's Institute incompatible with attending Pride events? What say you, Women's Institute Declaration? open.substack.com/pub/thirdsecto…
A new Charity Commission chair. I very much hope that Julia Unwin will show better leadership in ensuring that charities follow the law when it comes to single-sex spaces and services, members and beneficiaries. Sex Matters ThirdSectorSEEN SEEN in Journalism
📢 the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions’ Sub-Committee on Accreditation has decided *not* to review EHRC's "A Status" ❌ Several requests for the review were made because of EHRC's response to the UK Supreme Court decision in For Women Scotland
We cannot thank this mother enough (anonymous, obviously, for safety reasons). Girlguiding has been flouting the law for long enough. They’ve been told over and over. If your organisation says it’s for girls, it must only be girls. #TheLawIsTheLaw thetimes.com/article/19939e…
Excellent news. Girl guiding will be just for girls again. However, that adult roles are open to all remains a significant concern unless proper safeguarding rules are in place. girlguiding.org.uk/information-fo… ThirdSectorSEEN Sex Matters SEEN in Journalism
