Why of course, Michael Blake :) 🧵: What it really boils down to is The Professional Collegiate League views athletes as full-fledged citizens that deserve ALL of their economic & legal rights. Meanwhile, the NCAA & schools view this as a situation of appeasement to protect their billions.
The Professional Collegiate League will classify its athletes as employees & voluntarily recognize a PCLPA. This means: -Salary $50-150k/year -Unrestricted NIL -Employee benefits (insurance, workers comp, etc.) -A seat at the table w/r/t a CBA In others words, EQUITABILITY for PCL athletes
Academically The Professional Collegiate League's athletes will be able to tailor their interests with the right school, whether a 4-year, 2-year, or trade school. Want to attend an #HBCU and be paid to play college basketball? Then the PCL is for you! Each of our cities has at least one HBCU.
This Thread is EXACTLY why @ItsNxtLevel @ForTheFansHQ is so excited to partner with The Professional Collegiate League Ricky Volante David West Soledad O'Brien Put some respect AND an Education AND a check on these College Athletes names!
Proud that The Professional Collegiate League's executives were able to advise on and contribute to this transformative legislative proposal. Regardless of its ultimate impact, we will continue to focus on providing a market-based challenge to the exploitative practices of college sports.
They're not even pretending. A witness list on Name, Image, and Likeness rights, with no athletes and no women speaking for their own Name, Image, and Likeness rights. 🤦🏿♂️ Call David West to speak. Call Kelsey Trainor . Call Etan Thomas . Call Ricky Volante
I'll be joining David Grubb in about 10 minutes to talk #NIL (and maybe The Professional Collegiate League)!
Some The Professional Collegiate League, OTE, G-League Ignite coverage for your Monday. Glynn A. Hill shows the point that I've been making for years: NIL won't stop prospective & current college basketball players from seeking truly equitable opportunities. washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/07…
Former NBA all-star and COO of The Professional Collegiate League David West told us: “Even with [NIL], the same mechanisms of control are still in place, meaning the system is still set up to benefit the players last, not first.”
Join David West & I in the Win Again Clubroom TODAY at 4pm ET w/ Mark Moyer for "Challenging NCAA Basketball! - The Professional Collegiate League" In addition to hearing us talk PCL, it's an awesome virtual networking platform w/ some great folks attending! Click here: bit.ly/3HY670B
NEW #longform: @The_PCLeague founders were prescient on NIL, HBCU cachet and college sports disruption. But 5 years after unveiling their anti-NCAA, pay-to-play league, they've failed to launch. Patrick Hruby and I go deep into their revealing struggles: sportico.com/leagues/colleg…
Evening RT of the Sportico story on The Professional Collegiate League from Daniel Libit & Patrick Hruby. To be clear, this isn't meant to mark the end. PCL efforts are still ongoing.
This is a compelling read by two outstanding writers, Patrick Hruby & Daniel Libit, on a radical, but straightforward idea--start a pro league league for college basketball players. The league hasn't taken off, and might not ever, but it wouldn't be for lack of effort or heart.
.@andyhre's #CFB board-game Kickstarter, which made a brief cameo in Patrick Hruby+my epic poem on the The Professional Collegiate League's challenges (link below), is doing quite well. Passed its $10,500 goal and closing in on $20K. sportico.com/leagues/colleg…
