Daniel Libit CJR one of the best developments in the wake of that coverage was a (general) recognition that treating NCAA rules as if they were laws, and rule-breaking as criminal, was not virtuous, but rather carrying the water of a cartel.

Pryor is also a gleaming reminder about the intellectual/philosophical failures of sports journalism’s Scandal Beat, which glommed onto “tattoogate” as if it was a federal crime— as opposed to an NCAA rules violation. I wrote about this for CJR in ‘11.
