Yetbarek is a well-known youth activist who advocates on social media. He was previously arrested and released for advocating about the Gurage Regional Statehood question on social media.

Yonatan Solomon, the coordinator of the newly formed Gurage GOGOT party, along with other organizers has been detained by the federal police. This detention took place while Yonatan was on his way to submit official GOGOT party documents to the National Election Board of Ethiopia- NEBE
