This Act provides a continued path forward to tell untold stories and share how Sikh Canadians contributed to our great nation.

This month

Business leaders in the Sikh community want the best for their workers.

They want less temporary foreign workers, better religious accommodation on job sites, and stronger protections for gig workers.

These are the issues that matter to them, so they matter to us.

April marks the 5th Anniversary of Sikh Heritage Month. This Act, which I introduced as a Private Members' Bill, received Royal Assent and became law in 2019.

Thank you to Sikh Canadians, who over the past 125 years, have helped build Canada into the country it is today. 🪯

Blanket policies can prevent workers, who wear religious articles of clothing (incl. headdress), from certain workplaces.

We visited Port of Vancouver and discussed hierarchy of controls which informs employees/employers in identifying effective and accommodating safety measures.

Along with Lawrence MacAulay, today we visited Nanak Foods, recent recipients of federal funding through the Supply Management Processing Investment Fund.

We gained a better understanding of its unique manufacturing processes and operations.

This April, we celebrate the 5-year anniversary of Sikh Heritage Month in Canada. It is an opportunity for us to reflect on, celebrate and educate future generations about the important role that Sikh Canadians have played, and continue to play, in communities across the country.

Easter is a time to gather, reflect, spend quality time with our friends and families, and lend a hand to those who need it most.
