“A big shout-out to the healthcare workers in Alberta and beyond,” says Edmonton-born actor Michael J. Fox (Michael J. Fox). “You’ve been incredible. I really appreciate it. We really appreciate it. We love you and we thank you.”

“It’s really important you wear the mask out in public when you cannot physically distance,” says Dr. Mark Joffe. “Wash your hands regularly, particularly before you touch your eyes, nose or mouth. Cover your cough. Stay home if you’re sick and maintain that physical distancing.”

This weekend, if you plan to visit a beach or other area that might be a popular destination, I encourage you to have a back-up plan if the space is full when you arrive. Remember to stay 2 m apart & follow guidance.

If anyone is tired of following public health guidance, or feels they are not at risk of #COVID19AB, please remember the importance of your actions. Every one of us acts as a shield that protects our friends, families and neighbours.

We’re all tired of #COVID19AB but the virus doesn’t care. We have to learn how to live with it. This means learning how to reduce risk while having a BBQ or visiting our cohort. It means we need to minimize the risk of contracting the virus & the risk of spreading it to others.

Whether #COVID19AB case numbers go up or down in the weeks ahead depends largely on what precautions we take over the next 10-14 days. The new cases we see today reflect behaviours 1-2 weeks ago. If we want to bring our numbers under control by early Aug. now is the time to act.

I strongly recommend that Albertans wear masks. We’ve undertaken many efforts to normalize & promote wearing masks the last few months. If you don’t already, please start today. Do it for yourself and for everyone around you. Alberta.ca/masks

Wearing a homemade or non-medical mask in public is another tool to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Masks should complement – not replace – other prevention measures. Continue physical distancing and good hand hygiene, and stay home when sick. #WeAreAHS

“Our healthcare teams alone cannot protect our health system,” says Dr. Verna Yiu (she/her). “More than ever, we need your help. At this critical time, I implore all Albertans to follow the directives of Dr. Deena Hinshaw, our Chief Medical Officer of Health.” youtu.be/Kt4Bvr03yBY
