After four years of work, so pleased to be able to announce that our campaign to abolish University of Oxford's unfair graduate application fee has passed by 419-380 in the University Parliament! Actually speechless....

The more I read about what's happening at British universities this year, the more extraordinary it seems. If you're a student or academic, keen to hear about your experiences and what's going on on your campus. As ever, DM in confidence.

Students shouldn’t have to pay tuition fees this year. Or next year. Or any year. That's because education should be a right, not a commodity.

Robert Ford Never mind universities, when will government and especially Matt Hancock address community transmission being triggered by schools and universities and testing failures?

Why are BBC Radio 4 Today journalists so lazy? Online teaching is complex and can enhance the learning experience. Don’t assume it’s poor quality because you were taught in the days when acetate sheets & carbon paper were cutting edge technology.

My parents married in 1961 and stayed together till my daddy died 53 years later. They faced a lot of barriers as an interracial couple but they fought back and forged the path for others to love who they choose #BlackHistoryMonth #RoleModels #HistoryMakers

Imagine if instead of flooding black communities with drugs, the US government had flooded black communities with libraries.

Another amazing glass bead found by one of our undergraduate students today! Opening new trenches on a Saturday is much easier when things like this are popping up.

I was going to save this, however, why not share not now. Two upside down owls in the Chapter House at Gloucester, and reversed. #Owls

There was a discussion on here today re the massive over-representation of old white men at @famearch's conference (FAME represents archaeology's managers and employers) + how to fix it. This was their response to entirely reasonable criticism. Not a great look, I think?

A pre-birthday, rainy-day trip to Castle Acre Priory. Largely 12thC with later additions, everywhere you look this Cluniac site is full of surviving snippets of detail - zigzags, checkerboarding, SO MANY arches - attesting how richly decorated it once was. English Heritage
