India can’t keep deflecting on air pollution. With 13 of the world’s 20 most polluted cities here, PM2.5 limits set 8x higher than WHO norms, and 1.6M premature deaths linked to dirty air, experts say it’s time to align policy with health-based science, not excuses. Report by

We have seen an increase in the number of patients. There is also a change in the demographics of some diseases. For example, lung cancer was virtually unknown in non-smokers, and today it is occurring just as much in non-smokers as in smokers: Dr Arvind Kumar, Chairman, Chest

For a week, 3 HT reporters tracked pollution levels in #Delhi not only outdoors but inside spaces where vulnerable populations spend much of their day — at AIIMS, a private school in Rohini, & at home. By Jasjeev Gandhiok Ridhima Gupta GargiiiShukla hindustantimes.com/india-news/del…

The biggest tragedy of India’s fight against pollution is that it a reduced to individual coping while the state has abdicated its fiduciary responsibility towards it. Those who can are working a way out, those who can’t are getting salami sliced one breath at a time. There is

Parents: CHILDREN who never had breathing issues ARE suddenly ON NEBULISERS. The coughing doesn't stop. Air purifiers run all day. Paediatricians: WE'RE SEEING CHRONIC COUGHS THAT NEVER FULLY HEAL. MOST URGENT: Public Transport and the END of NEEDLESS Redevelopment/Construction!

Delhi’s winters used to invite us out. Chatais in parks, food from home, long afternoons that stretched into cold evenings. Public space felt shared, generous, alive. Now winter arrives with masks, sealed doors and air purifiers humming indoors. We check AQI before stepping out.

Since dust is an invisible hazard, the risk of its ill effects is grossly underperceived; research shows that construction dust causes serious health issues not only among workers, but also to residents living near construction sites ✍️Kamarajan M. thehindu.com/sci-tech/healt…

Around 60% of trips in India are under 4 km and 80% under 6 km, yet we pour money into urban highways while not even 10% of cities have continuous sidewalks. It’s a policy failure that encourages usage of private transportation, discourages public transit & increases AQI.

Historical context matters, but inevitability is being overstated. Britain and China polluted before the damage was fully understood and before cleaner tech existed. India is polluting after the science is settled and solutions are cheaper and known. That changes the moral
