1/8 People wonder why survivors of #MotherAndBabyHomes are not coming forward for #Redress. Survivors have lived with the shame, stigma and trauma for decades. Mothers were told they were not fit to rear their own child as baby was placed for adoption. Some signed forms

#Ireland does not have a good track record of respecting #children’s rights, we are counting the cost, in human suffering as well as in other ways, of #motherandbabyhomes, we must learn from the lessons of the past by banning #surrogacy as the majority of other EU countries have.

1. Michael Martin was 'shocked' after the Brandon, Emily & Grace case & now this. He seems to be in a permanent state of shock. Yet his Govt have not committed to adult safeguarding laws & mandatory reporting of abuse. #RTEInvestigates

Tax breaks were given to developers of private nursing homes by successive governments- the estimated cost of the State subsidy was €10 billion. Investors were attracted by tax breaks, rather than an interest or understanding of older people and their care #RTEInvestigates
