NEWSFLASH... Core Funding, so far, fails to stop the trend of service closures. 29% increase in net closures year on year. According to @dcediy, closure rates are "broadly in line" with previous years. Is this considered a success? 👇👇👇 independent.ie/irish-news/par…

500 Early Child Care Providers are Set to Close Their Doors From November "There will be rolling closures of ECCE services, this will affect about 20,000 parents. The reason for this is the Minister for Children's Core Funding plan"

Hello, it is a fact that if you have a highly qualified educator in a 22-child ECCE session, it gets ZERO net additional via Core Funding. Hasn't increased in 4yrs, so a MAJOR erosion in take-home pay for the owner. That's just one reason we're closing 1/7 🧵 Micheál Martin

The @dcediy insist that just because they've given funds to all other service types (some as little as €100 per YEAR or less) that there's no case to answer here. That's wrong. It's also insulting and demoralising.

Roderic O’Gorman TD continues to ignore the cries for help from the sector. We've done 3 protests, this is our 4th. Hundreds of emails. They don't see an issue. Well, providers have a BIG PROBLEM with that position.

Remarkably, services have been coerced into signing for Core Funding because the department was discontinuing 2 other funding streams. We were over a barrel. Then they implemented a fee freeze so other parts of our business can't respond to sustain our ECCE when prices rise.

Meanwhile, we plough on with MULTIPLE regulators, systems that are a JOKE, and for the punchline? Little recognition of the overtime and stress this causes. We're doing @dcediy's crazy admin for them, for free, so that the Minister can keep making yet more promises to the public.

Finally, just a reminder, this is a PRIVATE SECTOR and the level of State influence being used to control the livlihoods of these businesswomen and men is simply shameful.

Childcare protest kicking off at Dail Eireann. Everyone in orange. One thing is certain, there are a lot more people here than informed the Dept Children officially

To be clear as an ECEC (Early Year) provider the only group representing my service at the table is The Federation of Early Childhood Providers they are the only group who have consulted with members sending surveys, having group chats and meetings listening & hearing the voices on the ground @dcediy
