A major Office of Public Works flood scheme is currently being constructed to drain Lough Funshinagh SAC - a priority turlough. This is being done with no AA, no EIAR, no planning permission, no budget, & following their own statements last year saying that the works were not feasible.

The Lough Funshinagh Flood Scheme aims to drain Lough Funshinagh (a priority turlough SAC) into Lough Ree SAC/SPA (which can be seen in the background). This project has set a new low for environmental and planning law breaches in Ireland; no AA, no EIAR, no planning permission.

Farmers are washing out slurry tanks on the River Shannon at the Castleconnell footbridge site. People swim here & this is the Lower River Shannon SAC. Access for farm machinery to this site needs to be blocked & a sign stating that this practice is illegal needs to be erected.
