What better way to review area of composite figures than have students use Google maps to measure and estimate the total area of our building? :-)

That moment on a Friday evening when you're trying to update grades so you can go into the weekend feeling caught up but Google Classroom decides it's a good time to work on whatever and slow everything down. Silly Google thinking teachers don't work on weekends.

Anyone else having issues with #GoogleClassroom that it's loading slowly, or not loading at all, and when viewing an assignment to return grades the page constantly reloads every time you scroll??

Scheduling messages on ClassDojo....the perfect feature for when I'm finishing sending individual messages with progress updates but don't want to look like I'm working on a Sunday night. Everyone gets messages exactly at 7am Monday

Of course I forgot to take pictures again....but sharing anyway: my 9th grade honors classes used similar triangles and shadow measurements to calculate the height of the school building today! Beautiful weather for going outdoors to discover real-world math.

L.R. Knost is always spot on with parenting lessons but even things meant for young children are true for teenagers as well. I find that with some students "ask instead of demand" can go a long way, sometimes it's hard to remember when things get frustrating, but we all try.

Hey Burger King ....is there anyway I could request one of those "221,184 ways to order a Whopper" posters for my classroom? I teach math and I'd love to use it for an example of calculating combinations....and free advertising for you so that's a fair trade, right? :-)

Oof, hard hitting message but true! And sometimes it's easy to overlook the needs of quiet students, but they sometimes need the most care.

The Muhlen-bird is back! And not just one this year...there are THREE! (one flew away before I took the picture, but came back later) I had to TWEET about it :-P

This is a great example of why the world of math and engineering needs diversity in order for society to progress. Math is more than "being a nerd", it's about identifying and solving real-world problems, and different perspectives to bring innovation. nytimes.com/2023/03/03/spo…
