A phrase I wish would go away: "drill and kill" Practice is extremely important in math. Disparaging practice & making teachers feel bad for getting students to practice a lot is irresponsible. Math is cumulative & when you don't practice enough, it's easy to get left behind.

SEL has a measurement problem. Schools are giving it to all students and hoping it will impact behavior and/or achievement. They cannot know if it was SEL that improved these outcomes if they go up. They won't blame SEL if the scores go down.

Instead of admin doing walkthroughs, they could do "tag outs." They take over your class so that you can walkthrough another teacher's class. Admin learns about your class, how they learn, classroom behavior & relationships. Teachers learn new ideas for lessons & management.
