The Earth's climate is in uncharted territory. At COP28 UAE, leaders must step-up and build momentum on three critical areas: fossil fuels, food and resilience. It's clear what needs to happen to get the transition right for people, nature and climate: wri.org/cop28

It is only becoming more clear and more urgent to course-correct on climate. The world has made some progress—in some cases, exponential—but overall, we are lagging. The State of Climate Action report provides a roadmap of the systemic changes needed: bit.ly/3MDbkQD

Warning from UN Environment Programme in its #EmissionsGap report: with fully implemented NDCs, world is on track for 2.5-2.9°C global warming. No significant progress from last year. To ensure a 1.5 future, countries need to cut emissions by 42% by 2030. 1/2

Collective action to solve global problems is seldom successful. Judged by this low bar, #COP28 was a success. Agreements on food systems reform, renewable energy, carbon markets & nature solutions provide hope. It's not enough, but a valuable spur to action. It’s not too late!

Food is responsible for 1/3 of global GHG emissions. Fixing the food system helps solve the problem. At #COP28, we unveiled ambitious grants to cut livestock emissions, trace cattle and safeguard forests as part of our $1 billion commitment to transforming food systems.

From exploring new technologies to shaping policy frameworks, we're paving the way for GHG removal solutions that work for everyone. The goal? Scale removal technologies in a way that's equitable, just, and avoids unintended consequences.

It’s taken years to arrive at the point where food is finally part of the climate change discussion. While countries update their national plans to reflect its importance, I’ll be making the case for a yes-and food system wherever I go. Bezos Earth Fund bezosearthfund.org/news-and-insig…

We just announced US$9.4m in grants going after the elusive methane vaccine for cattle. This one excites me. I'd call it a moonshot - if it does work, this could have planetary level impacts. But it's a big "if", and that's the kind of risk taking I think we need to be making.
