A thread on the reporting of rare breeding birds in the breeding season - from 3 years ago but still completely relevant

Check out the really helpful and interesting videos on the UK RBBP You Tube Channel youtube.com/@rarebreedingb… A fantastic resource and a particularly valuable reminder at this time of year when many of our rare and scarce breeders are back on territory

The work of county bird recorders in collating records is vital for the RBBP - about 2/3 of our data comes through their submissions. In a NEW BLOG Shaun Robson Shaun Robson describes his work as rare breeding bird recorder for Dorset Bird Club tinyurl.com/RBBPDorset

I'm pleased to see that the female (the upper bird) is colour-ringed, orange 27, ringed by me as a chick in Cheshire in 2014 and she has been breeding on the Isle of Man for the last eight years (and photographed by Peter Christian every year).

I have just 'attended' the talk online to Cheshire Wildlife Trust by @grahamfappleton and it was probably the best presentation to a local bird/wildlife organisation that I have ever seen and heard. So full of information, so nicely and simply explained. Thanks, Graham!

I was surprised, but very pleased, to receive in today's post a nice letter from @Juliet_vickery and a gold coloured badge to mark my 50 years membership of the BTO, the organisation that leads on much of this country's bird study.
