In a dynamic society (like ours) the last reason anyone should seek political office (authority!) at any level is “to make a difference”. While the first reason should be to protect the mechanisms in place so others (scientists, artists, entrepreneurs, etc) can.

My toxic trait is putting QR codes on random restaurant tables so people think it’s to order, but it’s actually to my portfolio

In 1980, 62 cents of every dollar spent on beef went to ranchers. Today, only 37 cents do. During COVID, beef prices rose by nearly 16%. Meanwhile, the 4 biggest beef companies’ profits rose more than 300%. The meat monopoly is nothing short of a nationwide crisis.

This is a headline in the AR Democrat-Gazette today. Higher teacher salaries should not be divisive. We need to increase pay for our most important public servants, teachers, now. There are no doctors, soldiers, police, or preachers without teachers.

There's been more coverage of the Choco Taco going away than how oil companies made $60 billion in profit last quarter. Some companies tripled their profit. Don't forget about this stuff just because gas prices are out of the news. They hope you move on so they can do it again.

No matter your actual job title, your most important role is Chief Problem Solver. Fortunately there are only two kinds of problems: those that are genuinely hard to solve; and the unpleasant ones for which you already know the answer, but put off dealing with. Fix those first.
