Teacher friends: pls remember that public displays of achievement (books read, math timed tests passed, etc.) are only great for those who achieve it easily. And friendly competition doesn’t feel so friendly for kids for whom the task is tough. Someone always feels like a loser.

I have spent my career learning how to keep the heart going. I am at a loss of what to do when it breaks. Today was simply brutal.

Today I transferred an unvax Covid + patient to another hospital where her unvax Covid + husband is being treated so they could die together in the same room. Then had to tell their child about both parents likely pending demise. 😢
