Thanks @housingsector for this excellent piece on the flawed economic model for delivering public housing:

Good to see these PQs from Rushanara Ali 💙 asking about effectiveness of Regulator's intervention in Tower Hamlets Community Housing. THCH's decline began with original 'downgrade' a decade ago. Its service is worse now. Tenants must be fully involved in any decision on its future.

The reporting on post remediations is shocking (long post A-Z

A) they (@govuk + enforcement agencies) didn’t know how many blocks total or exposed - why do we all pay land register fees?

B) they have finessed the building height thresholds over…

The annual insurance premium for the building had risen from around £10,000 to £310,000. Because of unremediated, flammable cladding.

It shows what a mess the Michael Gove and Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities have made of their legislation.

In the aftermath of horror, we need political leaders with the ability to facilitate de-escalation and peace. Instead, their thirst for war is endangering us all.

According to groups like ADL, protests against the genocide in Gaza are , and this anti-Zionist woman from Brisbane, Australia is also antisemitic. Is this another 'boy who cried wolf' story?

This is why they call it a “windfucker”. This kestrel was hunting over Richmond Park yesterday. Floating serenely in one spot for minutes at a time, watching the ground below, then diving at speed to catch prey. It didn’t catch anything yesterday.

Upcoming amendments from the Earl of Lytton to bring consumer protection for blocks of flats with the buildingsafetyscheme.org

But also new amendments to end leasehold abuse and make commonhold work in practice. TrustHold will be tabled shortly in the House of Lords.

Let's ensure our housing associations remain local, serving our communities directly.

People might blame the legal system for how this case has turned out

But the fact is I have only taken 14.9k people with me on Twitter and even less in the real world

Like the PO the system has only done what it thought it would get away with ( so far it has been proved right)

Just heard from another social tenant being required to pay an eye-watering service charge - £59 a week. This includes 'communal repairs', 'entry phone maintenance' + 'sewers & drains' too! We have made a formal complaint but there must be a way of challenging it for all tenants?
