Based on my general education class, about half of #Clemson students have not even heard about the bivalent booster. A failure in public health messaging!

This is big. One of the most respected medical journals in the world has called for mandates minimum indoor air quality standards in line w World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations Notably the standards are equal to Australian hospital standards, but we don’t have standards for other buildings

This is a really brilliant representation of Denmark’s RSV admissions data. It shows what I’ve been trying to explain for a while now. Delaying RSV exposure is *good*. The babies born in the 20/21 “gap year” experienced a net *benefit* by dodging RSV en masse as infants. 1/

1/12 I can’t let this go. Last week “All Things Considered” aired a segment on the structure of DNA that named only Watson and Crick. When people squawked they issued a “correction” (npr.org/2023/03/01/116… ). All Things Considered Ailsa Chang Mary Louise Kelly Ari Shapiro Juana Summers Nathaniel Comfort

90 of the 120 gender affirming healthcare ban bills in states across the USA have carve outs to permit nonconsensual surgeries on intersex infants. That's 75%! This is why we need #TransIntersexSolidarity!!!!

Quick things to understand about #LongCovid: • 75% of cases are from mild infection • 5-30% of all infections result in LC • Vaccine does not prevent it, but may reduce odds 15-50% • Prior infection does not protect you from LC on reinfection • Up the 2/3 or not recovering.

The conversations we are up at night having as the parents of a trans kid in Missouri are absolutely the sorts of conversations Jews were having in 1930 Europe. Absolutely. #ProtectTransKids #NeverAgainIsNow

This weekend I wrote ~5k words on the new NC abortion law. This is the most detailed analysis you will find - including explaining what has changed and contextualizing that info. I’ve never written something I so desperately want people to read. oldnorthstatepolitics.com/2023/05/an-ana…

3/ Second, what I want people to do is aggressively lobby their representatives to push for indoor air filtration in every public space, free testing, and financial support for time off work if infected. Those measures would substantially reduce transmission. This is very...

This curve of US Pedestrian Fatalities is shocking. 22 people being killed per day! But why call them Pedestrian Fatalities? Walking isn't what killed them. In line with other violence, we should call them Car Fatalities. And address the source instead of the victim.

It makes me angry to watch a training about how #Clemson is committed to improving holistic well-being when the university has repeatedly refused to speak out for vulnerable students.
