SIPTU - The Early Years Union SIPTU Galway Advertiser Childcare crisis is due to chronic underfunding for years. Government schemes rolled out & being subsidised by providers & staff alike. Services are closing across the country not because they can't get staff but because they're broke! #FailedEROfailedcorefunding
SIPTU - The Early Years Union SIPTU Galway Advertiser Yep. Chronic underfunding the government pay 38 weeks no payment for school holidays. Staff will have no job as owners closing premises. I am owner and am struggling with government funding. Blame government and release proper facts please.
This service has now closed & many more alongside Mary. It is a disgrace @dcediy and Roderic O’Gorman TD did nothing to save these beautiful ECEC services & while they do zero waiting lists grows SHAMEFUL The Federation of Early Childhood Providers Mark Wall TD @Micheál Martin Simon Harris TD Social Democrats Aontú
@MaryMag86999606 SIPTU - The Early Years Union SIPTU Galway Advertiser The childcare crisis is down to a number of issues. Low pay ECCE funding has not improved since 2012 Too much needless administration. An NCS scheme is not fit for purpose. The government has too much control on self employed owners, resulting in facilities closing.
First 5 Ireland What will First 5 Ireland do about children who can't access their ecce yrs due to closures & increasing lack of places. How will you reach these children? We will be forced to cancel our PM ecce session soon, it's unviable stagnant ecce fees are closing services The Federation of Early Childhood Providers
Wendy sharononeill @dcediy Better Start The Federation of Early Childhood Providers Don’t forget all ECCE services are supposed to be closed and do not get paid for all of the work they are doing. The whole system is broken for all services someone needs to step in fast and hold a meeting The Federation of Early Childhood Providers
When will @dcediy Roderic O’Gorman TD @BigStartIreland admit CF & the ERO has failed. Both set too low to achieve change promised. The sector gambled to reduce fees for parents. Low fees necessary but irrelevant without viable services & fairly paid consistent educators Elaine Dunne Federation Early Childhood Providers
Fine Gael Emer Currie inactive account Sadly Fine Gael has been silent over Roderic O’Gorman TD poor ECEC policy. You sat back watched small providers bullied out of their services Leo Varadkar said we were an irrelevant few outside Leinster House in Oct. Now many children can't access their ecce yrs. You've failed ECEC
@MaryMag86999606 Elaine Dunne Federation Early Childhood Providers The Federation of Early Childhood Providers This must be the most despicable act yet. A sole provider who put their own money and heart and sole into a dream they had, only for the dream to be shattered by government underfunded and draconian rules. They close and the very people that closed them will walk in and purchase.
Today Cllr. Malachy Steenson and others spoke at the Coolock protest. Later, after the protest had concluded, small altercations between Gardai and locals were reported. #CoolockSaysNo
Distraught providers left with no money to pay their staff or bills. How is this happening in this day and age. The Federation of Early Childhood Providers
Elaine Dunne Federation Early Childhood Providers The Federation of Early Childhood Providers They have no conscience I wonder how many civil servants in @dcediy have wages stopped when they don't meet targets! How would they respond to withholding wages! The treatment for self employed individuals particularly those dealing with government depts is stark😡
The Irish Times No other business has had its fee frozen from 2016 NCS prices. No other business is expected to run a government scheme on 2012 allocations (ECCE). No other business is expected to cover government administration virtually free of charge.
sharononeill I’d like to see how the minister tries to lie to the media about how badly he has handled the childcare crisis, now that journalists themselves are being personally affected .We have been shouting this from the rooftops, finally being heard now though
One would have to believe that this will be for all services moving forward. The Federation of Early Childhood Providers
Coming to a town and village near you thanks to Roderic O’Gorman TD
