Four Seasons pillows…. The plushest ( proper use of word), most sink-into-able ( improper use of English language) that I’ve enjoyed all this year. Or last year, for that matter. Mmmm…

All the best Brits are Francophiles. And all the best French are Anglophiles. Long live the Entente Cordiale.

…. Curious, then, that I should choose DHLawrence’s The Rainbow as my Easter reading with its altogether more cynical and earthy view of Christian belief. Maybe I needed a counterbalance. Lawrence would have made a cracking wine writer, though..

My first African Easter Service. I was left tingling by its energy, its urgency, its achievement in mixing Anglican tradition with something far more personal and emotional and confident than what I’m used to. Phew! Thrilling Alleluia Chorus too. Everyone sang it for their lives!

Visiting Tara’s vineyards, hewn from desert rock in the wastes of Chile’s Atacama Desert is a startling experience. These are truly extreme, not only because of the lack of rain- 50 years’ dry anyone?- but also the salt laden ‘barely soil’ where thrilling S-B and Chardonnay grow.
