We are extremely sad to report that due to arson the bird hide at Lion Creek in Canewdon has been destroyed. This also includes the barn owl box attached to the hide, the board walk and areas of saltmarsh and scrub Essex Wildlife Trust

Brilliant! Well done Mick and your amazing team at Essex Wildlife Trust Warley Place. A very well deserved award. So much is achieved by all our reserve volunteers, without whom much of our wildlife management would not be possible. Andrew Impey EWT Emily Buttress @EssexWT_Bailey

This weekend it's the Great Waltham Christmas Tree Festival. I'll be there with my local history books, including "An Essex Quizbook" and "Islands of Essex". Lots of other stalls, including Alison Yearsley with her framed flower photographs and pin-cushion dogs.

Found this incredibly soft fur at Essex Wildlife Trust ShotgateP Thickets, near Wickford. Any suggestions on what animal it was from? Lots of fur, no bones or skeleton remains to be seen. Darren Tansley EWT 💙 Darren Veitch

If you have been watching the Little owl cam, you will have seen we now have 3 owlets! We are surprised as egg one was laid 5 days before the other 2, although incubation did not start until they were all laid. Here, Denise removes the shell & all 3 are revealed! @DenisStr

In #nomowmay why Chelmsford City Council are you mowing all the verges in Danbury this morning. Bees, ants, spiders & butterflies I saw yesterday are all gone this morning. Please explain why you mow the grass just as wildflowers are at their best for wildlife Essex Climate Commission Plantlife
