We’re preying for sightings of our glorious Red Kites this season and asking the public to keep their eyes to the skies for these birds of prey across Northern Ireland.

Since 2009, 64 confirmed birds of prey have been illegally poisoned in NI, including 13 red kites and two white-tailed eagles which were found dead last year. (1/3)

Disturbance affects all birds & can lead to nest failure - that's why Nest Disturbance is a wildlife crime. Could there be nesting birds near by? Keep to the path, keep dogs on a lead & if you hear birds alarming /mobbing move away. Report suspected wildlife crime to PSNI on 101

Since the last survey in 2016, over a quarter of Hen Harriers have been lost from Northern Ireland’s skies.

With only 34 territorial pairs recorded, the Hen Harrier population in Northern Ireland is under immense pressure from loss of habitat.

The enigmatic ‘sky-dancing’ Hen Harriers are now a rare sight in our skies.

The 2023 Hen Harrier Survey was conducted in partnership with RSPB NI, NIRSG and DAERA to understand more about this rare species.

We have had lots of hen harrier sightings this week. Both males and females hunting and displaying across the moorland.
