The stomach is an organ unique in its function, environment and exposures. How does this affect the mutations that normal cells in the stomach acquire? What does this reveal about the origins of stomach cancer? These questions and more in our Nature paper: nature.com/articles/s4158…

I’m excited to share the latest work from our lab, led by a group of three amazing scientists: Junbing Zhang, Yousuf Ali and Harrison Chong, who describe nature the discovery of a ROS sensor, VPS35, which links cytosolic H2O2 levels to regulation of mitochondrial translation and

The potency of abnormal genetic fusion in chronic myeloid leukaemia in our latest study nature 👉🏽 nature.com/articles/s4158… This cancer is an oddity - one of the few single genetic “hit” cancers, a short trajectory (few years) from start to diagnosis, and explosive growth.

We are thrilled to share the latest from the lab! We demonstrate that multi-organ MCSF-dependent myelopoiesis is dynamic in MS and is manipulated by lifestyle to influence disease severity and neuroinflammation. Big congrats to the whole team! nature.com/articles/s4146…

Interested in the mysteries surrounding metastasis evolution? This perspective in Nature Reviews Cancer is my best attempt at proposing a framework that could help advance our thinking about the topic. Well. At least it helped advance my own thinking. 😅 nature.com/articles/s4156…

This is very interesting indeed. We have consistently seen evidence for relaxed selection during lymph node metastasis in human genetic data (nature.com/articles/s4158…) - this paper proposes a nice mechanism to explain these findings.

I was aware that DEI-related initiatives could become political targets. However, I never imagined that a grant, once awarded and actively running, would be canceled mid-stream. This is a move that, to my knowledge, is unprecedented outside of scientific misconduct cases. 4/15

For what it’s worth, this is not my experience. I am always stunned when the others’ scores are revealed to me - they mostly agree in principle, no matter how unique I thought my judgement was 😆 really has bolstered my confidence in the system to see this over and over.
