It was great to welcome Richard Hyslop FIG Representative to the UK and Europe & Ricky Phillips Ricky D Phillips - Military Historian to Lodge Park Academy to talk to Yr8 on the Falklands conflict. Richard presented us with a flag from the Falklands to add to our display honouring former student Alex Shaw who died on Mount Longdon.
I just want to thank Mhichil Ó Muireadhaigh Lodge Park Academy and FIG Representative to the UK and Europe for your time today. It was great to spend the day with you all.
Remember the fallen Falkland Islands On Tuesday, I went to Alex Shaw's former school, Lodge Park Academy, to present them with a Falkland Islands flag. They are rightly proud of Alex and want today's pupils to know about his sacrifice.
Following my visit to Lodge Park Academy, on Tuesday, I thought particularly of Alex Shaw as I laid my flowers at the South Atlantic Memorial in St Paul's Cathedral. #LiberationDay #WeWillRememberThem 🇫🇰🤝🏻🇬🇧 Mhichil Ó Muireadhaigh
Thanks Richard this means a lot to all of us at Lodge Park Academy
Thanks for your time Ricky. It is important to us at Lodge Park Academy to remember both Alex and the sacrifice he made and also understand the context of the conflict in which he died.
Remember the fallen James is not forgotten at his old school Lodge Park Academy. This is on display in the dinning area. He is remembered every year on the 13th June alongside Alex Shaw, another ex-student, who was also KIA on the 13th June but in 1982 on Mount Longdon. Both heroes who are not forgotten
We have already had so many donations to LPA Prom outfit collection, but we are looking for more. If anyone has any old suits or dresses they no longer wear. To donate, please drop outfits off to main reception at LPA or email [email protected] to arrange.
