On this day in 1982, the Falklands task force sailed on Thatcher’s orders to liberate the islands.

Today, because of those who sailed in that armada the Falklands remain forever British, and it’s in the shadow of their legacy that our Armed Forces continue to defend the islands.

Brilliant news for Harland & Wolff – we have been named as preferred bidder by the Falkland Islands Government (FIG) to provide a replacement of the islands’ port facility, known as FIPASS. The contract is valued at between £100 and £120m.
