The ecological health of our surface waters has declined since the previous assessment (2013-2018), especially in our estuaries and coastal waters, which have declined by 16% and 10%, respectively. Read ‘Water Quality in Ireland Report 2016-2021’: bit.ly/3Vv5d3Z

Martin McGarrigle Ireland's Environmentalists EPA Research News Not forgetting great team of post grads Elvira de Eyto Gary Free Jonathan White and Rosanna Caroni. Gas thing looking back, ca 5000 Irish punts stipend was considered "high rollers". Almost every other post grad in TCD Zoology at time had no stipend. At least some meagre progress since then

Nice to get out and kickstart a new project in the #Dromore Catchment, #Monaghan. Our plan is to generate a digital database of all available habitat data, providing the basis for the creation of a physical Dromore Catchment map with particular focus on #habitatconnectivity.

A hand-held long exposure in a river earlier today. In the old days this required a tripod and ~20s. Modern phones are incredible.

Really useful #LAWPROfund webinar delivered this morning with the aim of supporting groups in their application for funding. If your group can deliver a project that helps address issues in your #catchment, then go for it!💧 Watch back the recording here: vimeo.com/788997282
