Bright & breezy today with spells of sunshine & scattered showers frequent at times in the north east & midlands. Temperatures 8-12 degrees. Mainly dry at first tonight, but rain & drizzle will develop in the southwest early & will extend to most areas becoming heavy at times.

The Minister for Agriculture has paused non-essential farm inspections as farmers struggle with challenging weather, reports the Farmers Journal. Farmers have been forced to leave cattle in sheds due to heavy rain, and fodder stocks are running very low.
