Why does this half term feel a year long 😭😭

I am exhausted. I have no idea how I am going to get through the week. Just so physically and mentally tired.

Why are year 9 like that?

That point in the year when I have completely given up and don’t want to start any news habits until the new school year. Waking up earlier? I’ll start in September. Making healthy lunches? I’ll start in September. Preparing outfits the night before? I’ll start in September.

It doesn’t matter if your’e a classroom teacher, middle leader of member of SLT. This next 3 weeks is going to be tough. We’ve all been through so much. Be kinder than you feel, friendly than you’ve got the energy for and help each-other. We will get through this together.

Unpopular opinion - I quite enjoyed teaching online and would happily take a job teaching online in the future. It definitely showed a divide between computer literacy amongst teaching staff.

I’ve worked in a school for over 2 years and today was the first time some of them seen me without a mask, one child literally stopped and stared at my face and goes ‘hmm wasn’t expecting that’ and walked away???

Is anyone else thinking we are starting to see the impact of 2 years of disruption and time at home, due to COVID 19, in schools? Extreme behaviours? Some pupils very emotional and struggling to regulate? Low attendance compared to normal? Winter bugs hitting hard?
