I don't like when people say, "we need to prepare our students for the real world." The truth is, some of them are experiencing more of a "real world" than we will ever know. What we need to do is prepare them for a better world. via Mark Anthony Johnson

#Safeguarding - we only receive CCN’s from the police for incidents relating to domestic violence/domestic incidents. Is this the case in other schools/LA’s?

The trust have tasked me with producing a ‘pastoral plan’ to be used next year . I’ll produce mine for Y11 & the format will be used throughout the school. Do you use something similar? This isn’t PSHE it is intended for use by the Year Leaders. Please DM if you can share 🙏

With a lot of schools lowering staff dress policies this week - can we finally agree that it’s ridiculous for male members of staff to have to dress like they’re at a wedding or going to court to teach children.

Well, it’s been quite a half-term 😴. Staff Development Day ✅ lots of content on de-escalation. Have a great break colleagues 🙌🏼

6-8 Y11 girls truant a number of mock exams. They then walk out of the subsequent Exam Resilience Assembly and walk out of the targeted workshop a couple of weeks later (with a smaller group). Any ideas/suggestions? #FearOfFailing

Not to cause controversy but I'm interested in speaking to secondary schools who either have: -a complete no homework policy -a policy where departments/teachers can set as little or as much hw as they wish -do not sanction students for non completion Direct message or replies!

HeadteacherChat 1. Cut out low impact time wasting tasks - EOY reports a great place to start 2. Be visible, say thank you 3. Give time for family events - doesn’t need whole day, often late start early finish is more than enough 4. Ensure any meeting has a purpose & is efficient #edutwitter

25°C+ and we're still wearing suit trousers?! It's about time to normalise this summer attire for male teachers in secondary schools. #Edutwitter

Not a great day to be launching #ClassCharts parents. Wonders of technology! Roll on tomorrow, felt like I lost my right-hand man!
