No teacher wants to be on strike tomorrow. We enjoy teaching. That's why we do it. But we can't go on getting progressively poorer. We can't go on letting essential support for pupils disappear. We can't go on watching colleagues leave the profession due to stress. We just can't.

Children’s education is not suffering because teachers are on strike. Children’s education is suffering from years of underfunding, undervaluing and lack of understanding of how stretched schools are. It’s not self serving, not greedy, it’s wanting better for the children.

Wonder why teachers are striking? The main reason isn’t pay….⬇️

So now we see the value of education. £1000, before tax, and a below inflation increase for next year of 4.5%. Not fully funded. Less than fire service, doctors, railway workers and the offer to teachers in Wales and Scotland. That’s how little they value education.

How do we expect young people from battleground childhoods to suddenly come into our schools and "behave well" This is often misread in schools as being disruptive challenging behaviour and we try to punish them into a better way of being. What they really need is support.🧠🌱

When a child in your class tells you lots of different ways to make 15, using addition and subtraction. They then go on to name all of the square numbers to 100! Teaching is winning, love for all things maths.#NCETM

I've allowed staff to attend sports days, transition events, and end of year performances. It's not been easy covering it, but it was worth it to see staff return with smiles and genuine appreciation for allowing them to go. #littlethings

The headlines today will be about pay. But this industrial action is about much more than pay. It's about an education system which is undervalued by Government and which is buckling under too much strain. Invest in our educators! Invest in our schools! Invest in our children!
