This new one from @MarkLeggatt6, longlisted for the McIlvanney Prize, is a remarkable read. Love the main character, Hector Lawless, a man whose OCD command of details & how he uses them makes him as memorable as Sherlock Holmes -but unique. But the Edinburgh setting is magical

Mhairi Black turned PMQs into Burns Night with this beautifully brutal reply to Oliver Dowden. Politics needs people like her, now more than ever. She’ll be such a loss. #PMQs

Nicola Sturgeon⁩ Cannot recommend Penitent by Mark Leggatt highly enough to all bookworms. Published by ⁦@FledglingPress⁩ and set against the gothic splendour of Edinburgh, the main character, Hector Lawless is as complex and compelling as the town that made him.

One of the most immersive books I've read, and I already admire Mark's writing. I can't recall feeling more "in" a character than I did with Hector, and as uncomfortable as it was to "be" him at times, seeing his story through to an end was so, so, rewarding. Highly recommended.

#Penitent by @MarkLeggatt6 is a pacy read with a dark theme and a protagonist that gets under your skin. A great read for staff and seniors. ❤️ Edinburgh setting ❤️ Hector - more please @FledglingPress ⚠️ Has themes of sexual abuse and political corruption
