Wow! Congrats to Reagan Brown (senior at UA) - a geometric morphometrics machine....just finished a project that required landmarking 750 photos in our dear rivulus fish. Awesome work!

I am thrilled to announce that I passed my PhD qualifying exams!!! Obviously had to show today's fit (fish shirt + snake earrings that we are pretending are parasites). Special thanks to my advisor Ryan L. Earley and my committee for the support through this process.

At least I'm not the only one :) You know your "cold caffeine" habit was (is?) chronic when a former [amazing] PhD student (Liz Lee Johnson, Ph.D.) gets nostalgic over it.

Did you know that there are well over 150 species of eels that spend their larval period in the Gulf of Mexico? Fantastic biodiversity, hidden biodiversity, amazing larval stages!

Weller explains how to rigorously measure color patterns in fishes. Color has chromatic and spatial parameters. Chromatic information varies with lighting, preservation, and angle. Spatial info is more robust. Geomorphology techniques work just fine on these data. #ICVM2023
