I am thrilled to announce that I passed my PhD qualifying exams!!! Obviously had to show today's fit (fish shirt + snake earrings that we are pretending are parasites). Special thanks to my advisor Ryan L. Earley and my committee for the support through this process.
At least I'm not the only one :) You know your "cold caffeine" habit was (is?) chronic when a former [amazing] PhD student (Liz Lee Johnson, Ph.D.) gets nostalgic over it.
For this week's edition of #MeettheScientist, we're featuring DCE Riddiford Award nominee Ursula Beattie Ursula Beattie, Ph.D.! Ursula is a Ph.D. student in Tufts Biology Department, where she studies the impacts of chronic stress intensity on the health of wild house sparrows!๐ฆ๐ค๐งช

Worked with this fish/lab (Ryan L. Earley) during undergrad. Miss the days of chasing them around the lab as the jumped for the drains!

I am so excited to announce that yesterday I successfully defended my dissertation! These past 6 years have been a wild ride but I am very grateful for the support of my advisor Ryan L. Earley, lab mates, friends, and family through it all!
Congratulations to Emily Linn (Earley Lab) for successfully defending their thesis, "Salinity-Dependent Changes in Permeability in a Brackish Fish Species"! Ryan L. Earley ๐ท Brooke Fitzwater, PhD (she/her) ๐๐ณ๏ธโ๐
Great talk by Ryan L. Earley about the mangrove killifish, which has the peculiar habit of launching itself into the air to relocate. #ICVM2023
