One of my favorite photos of the year, I captured a total lunar eclipse from my backyard as Earth’s sunsets scattered color across the surface. This is the photo I chose for March in my 2026 Cosmic Calendar, as that will be the next time this is visible from North America.

2025年10月1日の太陽面(白色光)をSeestarS30で動画撮影。VideoCreatorで編集しました。この日は黒点も多く興味深い太陽面でした。 #⃣SeestarS30 #⃣太陽 #⃣黒点 youtube.com/shorts/DVJMWOP…

The entire month of September 2025 on the Sun! The month saw some strong coronal hole and geomagnetic storm action, but lacked significant solar flare activity. #spaceweather #astronomy

Saturn on October 11th. Some periods of good seeing. Very lucky, as just as i was finishing low cloud formed and the sky sealed up within minutes. The rings here are tilted just 1º toward us. It gives you some idea of just how thin they are - despite being around 280,000km across

The evolution of AR 4246 has been very impressive. Watch over the last two days as the area grows larger and starts firing off many flares and CMEs. Additional M flares are possible from this region. There is a slim yet growing chance of an X flare as well. Stay tuned...

A series of mesmerising filament eruptions from the Sun tonight! These particular events are not Earth-directed, but beautiful to watch.

The CME from this eruptive prominence is absolutely spectacular! Here it is in the view of the Cor2 coronagraph on board Stereo A. If this was Earth-directed we'd be talking about a possible major geomagnetic storm. Alas, it was launched sideways, east of us. Next time.

Space Weather picks up in a big way! Region 4246 launches 4 solar storms towards Earth. Region 4248 &4250 are now entering the same hot longitudes & getting more active. Expect big flares, HF radio blackouts & storm launches to continue! Strong Earth-impacts peak October 15-17.
