Mason Miller on the surface is a great example of why there is advanced metrics. The -0.9 WAR was a red flag but carrying a FIP under 4 and K/9 of 12.3 really put him in a different light. Young flamethrowers with accuracy issues isn’t new and control can be worked on.

Jake Mangum is what I feel the Pirates need. A contact guy with speed that get on at a decent clip (.330 OBP with nearly twice as many hits as strikeouts) and steal bags (27 a year ago). Not going to be a 20/20 or 30/30 guy, but could provide run scoring chances.
