We are extremely concerned by the news that the Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, plans to keep the ban on puberty blockers for young trans people, pending the outcome of legal proceedings.

We agree when the The Labour Party manifesto says we will remove indignities for trans people. That includes ensuring they get the correct medical care as recommended by a professional with expertise in the field.

We welcome the BMA's evidence-based evaluation into trans healthcare to ensure optimal patient outcomes. We hope Wes Streeting will support the experts, lift the puberty blocker ban, and implement the BMA's recommendations once their evaluation is complete.
